Three African migrants were discovered squeezed inside compartments under car dashboards and behind seats at a border crossing between Morocco and Spain, police said on Monday. Authorities found a 15-year-old girl and two men aged 20 and 21 with symptoms of asphyxia, disorientation and generalized pain.
Spain has become the main access to Europe for migrants and asylum seekers. The UN said over 62,000 migrants arrived in Spain in 2018 after making the dangerous trip across the Mediterranean. Another 6,700+ came over Spain’s two North African enclaves, Melilla and Ceuta, the European Union’s only land borders with Africa.
